Call of Adventure: Draconis books and accessories

Hello hello, draconic adventurers!

Draconis: Call of Adventure is the first release of the series, and it's being crowdfunded on Kickstarter from October 22th until November 15th.

This book is designed as a gateway into tabletop role-playing for new players, and leaders, while offering a range of new options and playstyles for experienced role-players.

The Call of Adventure covers all the fundamentals, as well as many ideas that we wished to include, but as this book is not meant to provide a thorough, detailed body of rules for experts, we purposefully left out many elements so as not to overwhelm new players!

Draconis: Call of Adventure - introduction to the Collector’s box and game aids contents

Draconis: Call of Adventure is a tabletop role-playing game adaptation of Chane's artbooks. This is an introductory game, designed with first-time players in mind, and was funded in March 2023, in French, and that will be offered during a crowdfunding campaign from October 15th until November 8th for our English-speaking community.

We would like to let you know more about what was offered during the initial French campaign, so you can have a better idea of what to expect!

The Call of Adventure

About 250 pages, hardcover, A4 size

The main focus of the collector’s box, the Call of Adventure book, contains everything required to play.

  • An introduction to Dreanke's universe, its dragon gods and a geographic overview.

  • A presentation of the six pre-generated characters: a Bard (a performing jack-of-all-trades, supporter, and spellcaster), a Scholar (a class full of clever tricks and know-how), a Paladin (a physically powerful class with healing abilities), a Dracamicis (a new class drawing its magic from its friendship with dragons), a Guide (an exploration-focused Ranged variant), and a Rogue (whose skills are centered on tinkering rather than larceny).

  • A guide on the Mieriga Valley and the village the heroes hail from, including descriptions of many secondary protagonists that the game leader can portray.

  • A campaign made of five adventures suited to the pre-generated characters. Each adventure features a wealth of tips and advice for beginner leaders, assisting them through setting up and directing the game.

  • Appendices including descriptions of the spells used by the characters (most are from 5th edition, but adapted to Draconis), travel encounters, conditions, and all complementary rules for a more advanced playstyle.

⭐ All content is fully compatible with 5E, and thus with the Fateforge series. Therefore, the Call of Adventure can be used as a sort of reference guide to play a feel-good 5E game, while also featuring a ready-to-play campaign. On that note, remember that Draconis' world can be accessed via portals, thus providing a lore-friendly justification for bringing in characters from other settings!

Three different covers will be available for this book: Standard (art by Chane), Great Wyrm (faux leather cover), or Red Dragon (art by Gustavo Pelissari).

Deep in the Valley

About 80 pages, hardcover, A5 size

If you want to cut your teeth as a game leader, this book was made for you! It is a game book intended for beginner leaders, and designed with two purposes in mind.

First, teaching the rules of the game at the reader's leisure. Through the book's adventure, rules are instilled synthetically, and pedagogically, as the story's heroine overcomes the trials she faces.

Second, learning about the behind-the-scenes of what is happening during the campaign. Deep in the Valley is a prequel to the adventure the heroes will experience, at the beginning of which the players find out that their village's chieftain has disappeared. What happened to her? Where is she? This is what this book will tell you! And depending on your choices, she will have gone this or that way, met this or that character, etc.

Additionally, this book includes advice on preparing and leading a game!

Game Aids Folder

The game aids folder contains a dozen geographic maps, clue handouts to give to the players, and familiar cards for the adorable dragons that will be helping our heroes. In short, all you need to play the Call to Adventure in the best conditions possible!

Character Folders

These six folders (one for each pre-generated character) contain character sheets and level-up sheets. Indeed, the campaign has the heroes advance up to level 5, and each level up has a dedicated sheet detailing the evolution of the character's abilities.

Dice Set

This set includes all the dice required to play: a 4-sided die, a 6-sided die, an 8-sided die, two 10-sided dice, a 12-sided die, and a 20-sided die. They are purple-colored and transparent, as you can see on this lovely nature-filled picture :)

Travel and Spell Decks

What dragon will the players encounter on their way? How did this trader get lost in the woods? This deck compiles descriptions of random travel encounters to help the leader spice up lulls during the adventure, featuring inspiring descriptions to fuel their imagination and improvisation. Whenever the characters are on the road and you want to have them encounter something or someone, all you need to do is draw a card from the travel deck and read through its instructions and descriptions!

Meanwhile, spell cards (whose contents are also covered in the appendices of the Call of Adventure) are an ever-convenient accessory for players. Of course, leafing through the books, copying spell descriptions, printing them out, or cropping them is always possible, but spell cards can be handed to the players and slipped into their character's folder, providing them with immediately available references during play.
